In 1997 soon after the release of the first dr grip ballpoint pen pilot released the pilot g2 gel pen. this pen was made to be a affordable gel pen that was comfortable and still nice looking. As soon as it released it quickly became americas #1 best selling pen and even today it remains one of the most popular pens in the world being found in all types of enviroments.
The writing quality is very pure and simple. The pen glides accross the paper leaving a nice jet black line. Although the ink looks nice it doesnt dry very quickly as it takes a while for it to dry but other than that it writes very nicely. One of the biggest issues I have with this pen that it is not very good with highlighters. Even if left to dry for a little the ink will still smear.
The design of the standard g2 is very simple. Just a clear tube with a clip at the top and a grip at the bottom. Although simple this pen is still very nice looking mostly thanks to that clip. Over the years some special edition g2's have been released which where mostly just special colors but recently pilot has come out with specials like the mineral art collection and the design collection which have unique desgins on the barrel which I will say look pretty nice. pilot has also released the pilot g2 limited which is exactly the same as the normal g2 but these have metal accents and a full metal barrel.
There are not many flaws with this pen but that doesnt mean there is none. The biggest issue I have is the fact that the ink takes forever to dry but I have already mentioned that before. The second issue I have is if you take apart the pen to much the barrel will crack very easily. Sometimes it also cracks under normal use but that is a bit rare as ive only had that happen once.
The pilot g2 is very simple and pure and i would totally recomend it. I give it a solid 8/10.
